In this section you can view information relating to paragliding take-offs and landings, and some also for hang gliding, commonly used by local pilots. All takeoffs can be used to make magnificent flights over the Val di Fassa Dolomites. You can fly over the massifs of Sassolungo, Sella, Pordoi, Marmolada. We remind you that all the information in this section is to be considered purely as a suggestion. Takeoffs and landings are for the usual use of local pilots, which means that they do not fall under any type of regulation by anyone, much less ICARUS FLYING TEAM ASD. The pilot is solely responsible for the conduct of the flight in accordance with current legislation and official documentation issued by the relevant aeronautical bodies.
Name of take-off:
North Col Rodella Takeoff
Altitude:
2360 meters a.t.s.
Reference landing:
Campitello landing during the opening periods of the Col Rodella cable car, otherwise landing in Canazei.
Accessible from:
Campitello by taking the Col Rodella cable car, otherwise by road to the Sella Pass towards the Valentini refuge and then on foot towards Col Rodella.
Features:
Takeoff occurs on terrain that is at times “cloudy” due to wind erosion and the presence of numerous agents that could cause entanglement.
Pay special attention:
Given the ropes of the two chairlifts, avoid takeoff near them; avalanche barriers in the lower section of takeoff; and northerly winds, which require careful consideration. Conditions can be relatively turbulent from 10 km/h onwards. Furthermore, completely downwind to reach landings should be considered.

:
Decollo Sud-Est Col Rodella
Features:
The take-off is presented on ground on grassy ground and relatively free from agents that could cause entanglement. Take-off is well suited during the morning hours in light wind conditions, as there are gradual reinforcements of breeze and heat normally coming from the south and south-east during the morning -.
Pay special attention:
The southeast exit is recommended, but the southwest exit should be avoided due to the presence of Col Rodella. It is not recommended to use in the afternoon or in any case in the presence of moderate west and southwest winds. Do not use in north wind!

Name of take-off:
Southwest Col Rodella Takeoff
Altitude:
2900 meters above sea level
Reference landing:
Campitello landing during the opening periods of the Col Rodella cable car, otherwise landing in Canazei.
Accessible from:
Campitello by taking the COl Rodella cable car, otherwise by road to Passo Sella towards the Valentini refuge and then on foot towards Col Rodella
Features:
Take-off is on grassy ground and relatively free of agents that could cause entanglement. Take-off is well suited during all hours of the day in light wind conditions, but is mainly used from late morning onwards, as there is a gradual rotation of the breeze from South-East to South-West, which may be strong during the afternoon hours
Pay special attention:
To the boulder on the left in the direction of takeoff and suddenly increase in slope below takeoff; to the transverse slope of takeoff. Evaluate the strength of the breeze well. Do not use in north wind!

Name of take-off:
Passo Sella Locomotive Takeoff.
Altitude:
2300 meters above sea level
Reference landing:
Primarily landing at Canazei, otherwise landing at Campitello.
Features:
With the Sella Pass road, as soon as you reach the pass, walk up towards the first Sella tower.
Features:
Take-off is on grassy/clodgy terrain and particularly rough on the paths. It has numerous agents that could cause entanglements. Take-off is used by local pilots mainly during the cable car’s autumn closure period, as it is more easily accessible and more generous than Col Rodella during this period.
Pay special attention:
To the steep take-off slope; to the difficulty of safely reaching landings in the event of descent and/or headwinds.

Landing name:
Campitello landing in Ischia
Altitude:
1420 meters above sea level
Location:
On the main road just reached Campitello, coming from the west immediately after the bridge, turn right or coming from the east immediately before the bridge, turn left towards the Col Rodella cable car. The landing is located 150 meters beyond the cable car’s downstream station on the right, as can be seen from the presence of a windsock.
Features:
The landing is wide and easily recognizable even from above, as you can take the cable car station as a reference. The landing direction can vary depending on the day and conditions, statistically there is a condition of slight east descent or calm winds in the morning and then a moderate breeze from the west in the afternoon/evening.
Features:

Pay special attention:
To the overhead power line that divides the area adjacent to the landing longitudinally. Absolutely avoid the area south of it also due to the presence of the golf school. To the trees on the west side of the landing which in moderate breezes can generate turbulence zones.
Pay special attention:
Along the valley from East to West or opposite
Landing name:
Landing Canazei locality Ciuch.
Altitude:
1430 meters above sea level
Location:
On the main road at the beginning of Canazei on the right coming from the west or at the end of Canazei on the left coming from the east. Near the “Caminetto” Hotel and the “Teater Gran Tobià” nightclub.
Features:
The landing is used by local pilots during the months of closure of the Col Rodella cable car when the “Locomotica Passo Sella” take-off also becomes more used. Large and recognizable from above, as it is located in the meadow between the villages of Canazei and Campitello just northeast of the Campitello landing. The landing direction can vary depending on the day and conditions, statistically there is a condition of slight east descent or calm winds in the morning and then a moderate breeze from the west in the afternoon/evening.
Pay special attention:
To the trees on the west side of the landing which in moderate breezes can generate turbulence zones.
Landing exposure:
Long valley from East to West or opposite
Area name:
Soaring Passo Sella.
Altitude:
2210 meters above sea level
Accessible from:
With the road to the Sella Pass, just after the 300-meter pass on the right, you can recognize the area by a wide plateau with the presence of telephone pylons.
Features:
The area is used by local pilots on days when north winds do not allow for safe thermal flight. The area is fun during the early and late hours of the day and still outside of thermal activity hours with laminar north wind.
Pay special attention:
To telephone cables in the area behind the take-off zone; to the possible sudden increase in wind.
